Local Willingness to Pay Survey for Rare and Endangered Species Protection in Qianjiangyuan National Park, China

The willingness to pay for the protection of rare and endangered species is information vital formulation biodiversity strategies. Accordingly, this study used contingent valuation method evaluate Elliot’s pheasant (Syrmaticus ellioti) in Qianjiangyuan National Park Zhejiang, China. A questionnaire was administered residents 19 villages towns Qixi, Hetian, Changhong, Suzhuang examine their conservation pheasant. logit model adopted calculate monetary existence value species. results showed that 38.1% respondents are willing CNY 4.025 per month total payment year 179,312. This influenced mainly by gender, education level, income awareness regarding species, which all have a significant positive correlation with willingness. male refuse fees, whereas high levels, incomes, more protect Among respondents, 45.30%, 38.46%, 28.21% unwilling because constraints, poor conservation, perceptions role government, respectively. government should increase subsidies guide re-employment as protectors biological diversity area incomes. It also strengthen public nationally protected animals.
